Christ in the Wilderness is a place of peace, quiet, solitude and beauty.

Christ in the Wilderness is a hermitage retreat center located west of Chicago in Stockton, Illinois,

in the beautiful rolling hills of the Mississippi Valley.

		The mission of Christ in the Wilderness is to provide an environment that is conducive to silence, prayer, and reflection. This enables visitors to experience movement toward a deeper awareness of self, creation, and the Holy.
The eighty acres of woods and mowed paths provide an opportunity to hike over three miles of walking paths sprinkled with quiet places for relaxation and reflection. Or just enjoy the many types of birds and small animals who have made Christ in the Wilderness their home. The land is inhabited by plenty of deer, birds and wild turkeys. Hunting is prohibited and the property is fenced in and surrounded by farms.
		The beautiful chapel is nestled in between trees and offers the guests staying at Christ in the Wilderness a warm and comforting place to pray and reflect.
There are three self-contained individual hermitages that offer the comfort and solitude to enable you to slow down your pace of life and quiet your mind. The private hermitages have decks, enclosed porches and modern conveniences.
